Your kid won't do as you say, Reader.
They will do as you do.
Modeling, after all, is our greatest teacher.
We cannot have different expectations of our children than we have of ourselves, simply because it doesn't work.
Our nervous system is designed to replicate that which is familiar to us, no matter if it's hurting us.
Our nervous system, however, is also designed to transform with a breath.
It takes it's instructions from you. It responds to your thoughts and beliefs. It reflects what you feed it.
So if you want your child to become more than who you are in this moment, you must be willing to transform who you become.
You must rise up to the occasion that you expect your child to rise up to.
You must become the person you want your children to become.
You must be the role model you wish them to replicate.
You must question your own conditioning, your own beliefs, your own presuppositions, your own constructs of mind.
You must mindfully embrace your own fears, your own demons, your own history.
You must give yourself permission to transcend your perceptual, cultural and familiar limitations and choose evolution for it's own sake.
This is no small feat.
It takes immense courage and intentionality.
But it IS possible, if you really want it.
